Walking quickly on to the stage, I tapped him on the shoulder before he could disappear into the dark confines of the corridor that led to the greenroom at NCPA. ‘The Carlton Kitto Jazz quartet’ is what had caught my eye as I read the paper in the morning. The passing away of Mr Jagjit Singh is indeed a big loss to 'mausiqi' as they say in Urdu. To say that he did absolute justice to music and lyrics would be the least. Does it matter whether the RSS was behind Anna’s movement? Of course it does. Because the entire movement – which had been seen as apolitical till now – would then be called a political movement and the response of the people would be totally different. How many people would continue to support Anna if supporting Anna was seen as supporting the RSS/BJP? There have been many political movements against corruption and the public has always viewed them with suspicion...
